Pull up a chair

Back in 2007, Loren agreed to one of Richard’s slightly mad ideas — to open a pub that felt more like a home. 

A place rooted in warmth, conversation, good food, and good company. Somewhere you could turn up post-dog walk, toast a big birthday, or just sink into a cosy corner by the fire with your favourite people (and maybe a pint).

What began at The Bulls Head in Repton has grown into a small family of seven pubs, a central kitchen, 600 amazing team members, and, naturally, seven alpacas. 🦙

Because, of course, we’d end up with alpacas.

So… why alpacas?

Well, we didn’t set out to make them part of Chilled Pubs — it just sort of happened. Loren and Richard fell for them after an alpaca experience day, and before long, the herd became part of the family.

It turns out alpacas are the perfect symbol for us: they’re social, warm, curious, and happiest together....sound familiar? 

Each of our pubs even has its own alpaca mascot because if you can’t have a little fun with things, what’s the point?
 
Plus, we have a different alpaca toy for each pub based on our real life herd... Each toy is available to purchase in their corresponding pub!

We’ll never tell you how to feel, that’s not our style. But we’ll do everything we can to make sure you can feel.

Our pubs are designed to be your safe, happy place. Somewhere you can just be yourself! You might find three generations of the same family sharing a Sunday roast, kids laughing, dogs snoozing by the fire, and a few mates talking about everything and nothing.

Our People

Behind every pint, plate, and smile is someone who genuinely cares. We hire people for their warmth, their spark, and their knack for making others feel at home.

Many of our team have grown with us — from polishing glasses as teenagers to running entire pubs. Watching people grow in confidence, skill, and happiness is what makes us proudest.
We’re not about “work-life balance” — we believe in work-life harmony. When our people love what they do and feel supported to thrive, that sense of togetherness naturally spills out into everything our guests experience.
